Bald Eagles-Northwest Oregon Coast
We live on the Pacific Ocean on the Northwest Coast of Oregon in a very small (Pop. about 1200). town called Gearhart. After dinner, we often take my truck down onto Del Rey Beach and watch/photograph the amazing sunsets. On this evening, bad weather was coming in from the sea which meant no sunset watching that evening. However, we stayed down on the beach looking for displayable driftwood or anything interesting. Suddenly, this Bald Eagle cut in front of the truck and landed next to a big fish carcass to dine. Shooting at high speed from the truck, a number of shots were usable and different from your standard eagle photo. My favorite image is the eagle pulling on the fish entrails due to the extraordinary stance the eagle adopted for leverage. While this image is basically unsalable, it is still my favorite due to the eagle's unusual stance and extension.
